How To: Increase Attachment Size for Secondary Email Accounts in the Gmail Android App
The Gmail app recently became stock Android's central hub for all of your email accounts. Instead of being limited to just Gmail accounts, the app can now handle POP3, IMAP, and exchange service email accounts, making it a one-stop shop for all of your emailing needs.But there's one fatal flaw that prevents the Gmail app from eliminating the need for other clients—attachments for non-Gmail accounts are artificially limited to only 5 megabytes instead of the standard 25. This can be really frustrating, since in this day and age, 5 MB is just way too small for most files.So if you're struggling with these limitations, a new Xposed module from developer esgie will remove this artificial limit and increase the attachment size to 25 megabytes, making Gmail a truly viable multi-service email client. Step 1: Install Gmail App Attachment SizeTo begin, head to the Download section of your Xposed Installer app and search Gmail App Attachment Size, then tap the top result. From here, swipe over to the Versions tab, then hit the "Download" button next to the most recent entry. Within a few seconds, Android's installer interface should come right up. Tap "Install" on this screen to get the module installed on your device.
Step 2: Activate & RebootWhen installation has finished, you'll get a notification from Xposed informing you that the module hasn't been activated yet and that a reboot is needed. To take care of both of these requirements, simply tap the "Activate and reboot" button on this notification.
Step 3: Attach Files Up to 25 MBWhen you get back up, no further setup is required. The artificial 5 MB attachment restriction will have been removed from your secondary email accounts, so you can now attach files of up to 25 MB in size. (1) Before: 5 MB Limit for Yahoo!
