How To: Use the Google Now Gesture to Launch Any Android App
Almost all modern Android devices have a gesture that will take you directly to Google Now. For most phones and tablets, it's a simple swipe up from the home button. With a Samsung or an older Android device, it's only a matter pressing and holding the home button.As centralized and simple as this gesture is, it sure would be nice if we could change the app that it launches, right? That's what developer Gianluca Spadazzi was thinking when he created his latest app, Now Gesture Tweaks. It allows you to launch any app or perform a few system operations with the Google Now gesture, so one of the most basic functions of your Android device is now fully customizable. Step 1: Install Now Gesture TweaksA free version of Now Gesture Tweaks is available on the Google Play Store at this link, and it includes all of the features that we'll be covering today. For $0.99, the pro version (available here) will unlock additional custom actions.

Step 2: Choose a Custom ActionAfter installing Now Gesture Tweaks, go ahead and launch the app. By default, it's set to do nothing when the Google Now gesture is performed, but if you'd like to change that, tap the "Select Action" button. From here, the free version offers four options: All apps, which opens your app drawer, Open custom app, which launches any app on your system, Open notification drawer, and Nothing. If you opt to go with "Open custom app," you'll be prompted to select the app you wish to launch when the Google Now gesture is performed.

Step 3: Set Now Gesture Tweaks as the Default HandlerWith your custom action selected, all that's left to do is set Now Gesture Tweaks as the default handler of the Google Now gesture on your system.To do that, simply perform the Google Now gesture by long-pressing or swiping up from your home button. When prompted, select "Now Gesture Tweaks" from the menu, then tap "Always." From now on, any time you perform the Google Now gesture, your custom app or action will be launched instead. Step 1: Filter Your MailFor starters, go to any folder you wish to purge of unread emails from the Mailboxes view. It could be a default folder for each account like "Inbox" or "Archive" or a folder you made yourself.Once inside, if you want to get rid of everything in that folder, there's no need to filter it at all. Skip to Step 2 if that's your case. Otherwise, if you want to be more selective, tap on the three-line filter icon in the lower left, where you can weed out your inbox by selecting either "Unread" or "Flagged" from the Include section.If you want to grab everything, you could also select "To: Me" and "Cc: Me" under Addresses. Any filter or combination of filters on the page will work. In my example, we'll just be deleting all unread emails from the folder.
Step 2: Save Any Wanted to EmailsThe next thing you'll want to do is check to see if there are any emails you want to keep, so scroll through the filtered view to make sure you won't be deleting something important. If you find anything you don't want to delete, there are multiple things you can do.

Option 1: Move to Another FolderSelect the email, tap the folder button at the bottom, then move it to a different mailbox. However, that will unintentionally mark the next email as read since it will automatically show it, so you'd have to mark it as unread before continuing. That's why it's better to use the alternative way, which also lets you save multiple emails at once: Tap "Edit" in the top right of the folder view, select all the emails you want to keep, then tap "Move" and select the appropriate folder.

Option 2: Mark as ReadSwipe left on the email to reveal the extra options (•••) button, tap it, then mark it as read. If you have multiple emails you want to mark read, tap "Edit" in the top right of the folder view instead, select all the emails you want to save, then tap "Mark" and "Mark as Read." Then, since they don't disappear from the filtered list like they do when moving to another folder, you'll need to tap the filter button in the bottom left to exit the filter, then tap it again to go back into the filtered view.

Step 3: Perform a Bulk DeleteOnce you're sure that only unwanted emails are left, it's time to proceed, so go ahead and tap on "Edit" in the upper right. Once in edit mode, select just one email by tapping the circle to the left of it.Don't Miss: Hide @iCloud, @Me & Custom Aliases from Mail's 'From' Field Now comes the magical part. Tap-and-hold the "Move" button at the bottom, but don't let go just yet. Next, tap to deselect the email you highlighted, then you can release your finger from the "Move" button. This will cause all emails in the filtered view to be selected at once, so tap "Trash" on the next screen to delete them all. You can tap the filter button again the folder view to see what's left. If you're worried that you might have deleted an important email, you can still go to your trash bin and give it one final look before the emails are permanently deleted. Once you're confident that nothing significant is in there, tap on "Edit," then "Delete All" to purge your email app of any trashed mail. The 13-megapixel camera on the OnePlus One is capable of taking some pretty impressive shots, but the stock CameraNext app doesn't do the hardware justice. When compared to the camera app that ships on the ColorOS version of the One, you can immediately see an increase in clarity and low light performance.Unfortunately, you cannot simply download an APK and install the ColorOS camera on a CyanogenMod-powered One. But thanks to the work of XDA users BOOTMGR, infinityplus, and andriman, it can be ported with most of its plugins. If you're rooted, you can flash the camera and all of its plugins though TWRP. If not, you can simply install each plugin individually.

Installation Method #1: Using TWRP (Root Needed)If you have an unlocked bootloader with TWRP installed as your recovery image, you can flash the entire ColorOS camera suite in one go. All you have to do is download the ColorOScamera-TWRP.zip file and flash it through TWRP.To boot into TWRP, first unhide your Developer options, then enable "Advanced reboot" and select "Recovery" from the reboot options in your Power Menu.Once you are in TWRP, tap "Install," select the camera ZIP file, and "Swipe to Flash." After the flash is completed, tap "Reboot System" and your new camera will be available in your app drawer.

Installation Method #2: Installing APKs Manually (No Root Needed)For those of you without root access, you will need to install the camera and each individual plugin one by one. Download the ColorOSCamera.zip file and extract it using an app like ES File Explorer. To do that, download the ZIP, locate it in ES File Explorer, and tap "Extract."With the ZIP extracted, simply start installing the APKs, just be sure to enable installation of apps from "Unknown sources" beforehand.

Using the CameraThe layout of the app is similar to that of the Sense Camera, but instead of being on the side, the settings, camera switcher, filter selection, and lighting options are available across the top of the screen when in portrait mode. To enable video recording slide to the left of the screen and then tap the record button. Recording can be paused and resumed at any time to reduce the amount of trimming you need to do when editing videos.

Enable PluginsWhether you installed the plugin APKs manually or flashed them through TWRP they still need to be enabled through the Color OS camera app. To do that tap the icon on the bottom right of the screen and select Camera Shop. Now all you need to do is tap Install next to each plugin and you will be good to go. To apply a plugin to your photos you will first have to enable it from the plugin menu, which can be accessed by tapping the icon on the bottom right of the screen. You will know a plugin is active by the icon changing from white to a rainbow.

Plugin BreakdownAll of the plugins except for Beautify are meant exclusively for the rear camera and can be toggled on from the pull-up menu right above the shutter button. Not all of the original ColorOS plugins have been ported, but the available options should be enough to keep you happy. Double Exposure allows you to overlay one photo over another and can be used to take some pretty interesting shots. The first picture you take will still be visible while you set up the second shot, so you don't have to worry about things not lining up correctly. With Beautify, you can step up your selfie game by applying quick lighting and color enhancements with a live preview. You can also control the filter levels by dragging the slider on the side of screen up or down. GIF mode creates short, 20-frame GIFs automatically and without the need for converting a previously recorded video like in other apps.Super Macro shots get you up close to your subject and are great for nature photos. What really stood out to me was Night mode, with which you can get some pretty impressive night shots without having to worry too much about graininess.Professional Mode gives you all the adjustments you'd want to make to your photos like exposure and focus control, but if you want to get more out of post-editing, I'd also recommend using RAW Capture mode. 50 MP Capture, or HD Mode, is something that was first introduced in the OPPO Find 7, and lets you up your camera from 13 to 50 megapixels thanks to some software magic. Google's new Inbox by Gmail service offers a new take on email with a particular emphasis on productivity. But, as an invite-only service at this stage, not many people can access Inbox just yet.While users who have been lucky enough to receive an invite to the service will in turn get three invites to pass on, there's an easier way to spread the love. Just add your friend's Google account info to your mobile device and log into the Inbox app—they'll then be able to access the service from their own device.

Step 1: Add Your Friend's Google Account to Your DeviceIf you've received an invite to Inbox, make sure that you have the mobile app installed on your device. It's available on both Google Play and iTunes, so go ahead and get it installed, then ensure that you're logged in with your primary account. Next up, add your friend's Google account info to your device. On Android, this can be done by heading to Settings, then tapping Add Account and selecting Google from the list. From here, select Existing, then let your friend type in their username and password. At the end of the account setup process, you'll get a chance to configure syncing options. If you'd rather not have your friend's data synced to your device, make sure to deselect all sync options for this account.

Step 2: Log into the Inbox App with Your Friend's AccountFrom Inbox's main screen, open the side navigation drawer and tap your account name. This will expand a list of all other Google accounts associated with your device, so tap your friend's account at this time. After a second or two, your friend will be logged in and they should be able to log into the Inbox app on their own device—no invite needed!

Step 3: Remove Your Friend's Google Account from Your DeviceNow that your friend has access Inbox, you no longer need their Google account attached to your device. Under the Accounts subsection of Settings, tap the Google entry, then select your friend's Gmail address. From here, tap the three-dot menu button at the top of the screen and select Remove Account. Confirm your selection, then your friend's account will be removed from your device. Note that this trick will not work for any Inbox account activated using this method, so your friend will not be able to repeat this process for other people.Now that you've invited your friends, send them a link to this article so that they can familiarize themselves with Inbox's core functions, or point them here for a list of handy keyboard shortcuts.
